MR D.I.Y wins in World Branding Awards 2018

If you are old like me, then chances are you are buying tools already and doing minor housework repairs already. One place that you can buy a lot of stuff is MR D.I.Y. Did you know that this Malaysian company recently received the “Brand of the Year” award in the National tier of the Retailer-Home Improvement Category at the 2018 World Branding Awards held at Kensington Palace, London, last October 31, 2018. The awards is organized by the World Branding Forum, a global non-profit organization dedicated toward advancing branding standards, and is considered the ultimate global brand recognition accolade a brand can be granted.

This year, only one National tier winner of this prestigious award was chosen in each category per country. Other Malaysian category winners were Maybank for Banking and Spritzer for Water. Nominees were judged for brand valuation, consumer market research, and through public online voting.

“The awards celebrate the achievements of some of the greatest brands around the globe. With an average of just six winners per country, it is truly a great achievement to be a winner of these awards,” said Richard Rowles, Chairman of the World Branding Forum. MR. D.I.Y. counts itself among the ranks of this edition’s global winners: Beijing Tong Ren Tang, BMW, Cartier, Club Med, JinkoSolar, Johnnie Walker, Lego, L’Oréal, Louis Vuitton, Nescafé, Rolex, Samsung, Schwarzkopf, and Yakult.

“More than 4,500 brands from 57 countries were nominated this year, with 351 brands from 49 countries declared as winners. 81 brands from 16 countries were awarded in New York, and 270 winners from 33 countries were awarded in London,” added Peter Pek, Chief Executive of the Forum. “Not every country was awarded, as a few did not receive enough votes to qualify.”

“MR. D.I.Y. is extremely honored and proud to win this distinguished Brand of the Year award. We believe that this recognition will bring MR.DIY to greater heights of reputation and confidence in the brand across the globe,” said Andy Chin, MR. D.I.Y. Head of Marketing. “Other than that, MR. D.I.Y. attributes today’s success to all management and front-liners for their continuous dedication, contribution, and effort in shaping what MR. D.I.Y. is today.”
