The True Meaning of Christmas: A Christmas Carol the Musical 2016

What better way to celebrate this Christmas season than to watch a musical all about it? In our favorite time of the year, Globe LIVE and 9 Works Theatrical production brings us Menken and Ahrens’ A Christmas Carol: The Musical 2016. It is based on the book by Charles Dickens, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and is brought to life by the music of well-known musical composer Alan Menken.

A Christmas Carol explores the journey of the old man who hates Christmas, Ebenezer Scrooge, as his eyes will be opened up to the true meaning of Christmas by his ghostly visitors: the ghost of Christmas past, the ghost of Christmas present, and the ghost of Christmas future.

If A Christmas Carol sounds familiar to you, then you might be thinking about the 2009 movie wherein Jim Carrey did not only voiced Scrooge in all ages but the 3 ghosts as well.

Following the success of their previous production, Green Day’s American Idiot, Santi Santamaria, Managing Director and Executive Producer at 9 Works Theatrical; Joe Caliro, Executive Producer, and CEO of Globe LIVE; Robbie Guevarra, Artistic Director at 9 Works Theatrical, and the Director of A Christmas Carol, for the second time have teamed up to bring us another musical this coming December.

According to Robbie Guevarra, director, his understanding of Charles Dickens book, A Christmas Carol is a ghost story that we should not misinterpret as something forgettable or light, it has to be so scary to Scrooge that it changes him and wants to become a better person, and that is something he always reminds his cast.

A Christmas Carol: The Musical 2016, it will not only give us the joy of Christmas season but also the darkness that comes with Scrooge’s journey as it is first and foremost a ghost story.
